Privacy Policy

What we collect

EarningTab collects the minimum data needed to operate:

  • Device ID — a random UUID generated locally on your browser. Used to link impressions to your account.
  • Email address — provided when you create an account or join the waitlist. Used for login, payouts, and product updates.
  • Impression data — timestamp, type (new tab or idle), and sponsor name. Used to calculate your earnings.

What we don't collect

  • We never read your code, files, or clipboard
  • We never track URLs, browsing history, or page content
  • We never access your tabs beyond detecting idle/active state
  • We never sell your data to third parties
  • We never use cookies for tracking or advertising

How impressions work

The extension detects when a new tab is opened or when a tab has been idle for 60+ seconds using Chrome's built-in Idle API. A sponsor line is shown, and an impression is logged only if the browser window is focused and the ad is visible for at least 5 seconds. No page content is read during this process.

Data storage

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (AWS Singapore region). Authentication is handled by Clerk. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Third-party services

  • Clerk — authentication (email, Google sign-in)
  • Neon — database hosting
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Carbon Ads — ad serving (developer-focused ads only)
  • Resend — transactional email

Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Pause or disable the extension with one click
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection immediately

Contact us at hello@earningtab.io for any privacy-related requests.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
