// faq

Straight answers

Developers ask hard questions. Here are ours.

Does it read my code, files, or browsing history?
No. The extension only detects whether your tab is active or idle using the browser's built-in idle API. It never reads page content, URLs, code, or anything else. The only data we collect is a random device ID and your account email.
What counts as a validated impression?
The sponsor line must be on screen for at least 5 seconds while your browser window is focused. Background tabs, minimised windows, and VPN/bot traffic don't count. Advertisers only pay for real attention — and you only earn for real attention.
How much will I realistically earn?
Early data from similar tools suggests $20–50/month for a typical developer coding 4–6 hours a day. That's roughly enough to cover your Claude or GitHub Copilot subscription. It grows as advertiser volume increases.
Who are the advertisers?
Developer tools, SaaS products, and tech companies. We use Carbon Ads — the ad network behind CSS-Tricks, CodePen, and DevDocs — so every ad is vetted and relevant to the developer audience. No crypto scams, no insurance, no pop-ups.
Can I turn it off without uninstalling?
Yes. One click in the extension popup pauses everything. The new tab page reverts to Chrome's default. You can re-enable anytime.
